SYNOPSIS OF RECORDER DATA BASE (TAKEN FROM ABOVE DOCUMENT)

Continuous, real-time hydrographic data recorders have been installed and maintained
 along the Louisiana coast by the La. Dept. of Wildlife and Fisheries in conjunction
 with the U. S. Geological Survey.  The recorders measure salinity, water temperature,
 water level, and conductance at all of the stations.  In addition, some stations have
 the capability of recording wind speed, wind direction, barometric pressure, rainfall,
 and air temperature.

The raw data files were received from LDWF in electronic (ASCII) format.
The raw data files were used to create a time series data set containing
the hourly means of the data.  The data set contains the following
variables:

  Month   -- Numerical value of the month (1 - 12)
  Day     -- Numerical value of the day (1 - 31)
  Year    -- 4 digit year
  Hour    -- Numerical value of the hour (1 to 24)
  Minute  -- Numerical value for the minute (0 - 60)
  Salinity -- Salinity in ppt (parts per thousand)
  Station  -- Character Station ID  (LDWF + 3 digit station number)

The data is in in a text file containg the data in a comma separated value (CSV)
format.  This data set contains a station name, datetime, and the value.
